Inclusivity in the Yoga Studio - with Larkin Silverman
Join Lumos Yoga & Barre Co-Founder, Body-Positivity Advocate, and self-proclaimed ‘Vinyasa Vixen’ Larkin Silverman at Grow Yoga on Sunday February 10th for a workshop on fostering a culture of Inclusivity on the mat and in the Yoga Studio.
Students and Teachers alike will practice unpacking and unlearning body shame, narrow constructs of able-bodiedness, worthy and unworthiness, and critically examine the culture of yoga as practiced in the fitness context. Participants will consider how real-world diversity can so often be precluded from the studio culture, and discuss trauma-informed strategies for consciously co-creating a culture of acceptance, inclusion, and empowerment for marginalized bodies and identities. Participants will discuss and devise their own strategies to lead a more inclusive, body positive, and self-loving yoga class and studio culture, including cueing, modifications and adaptations, theming, brand-building, and more.
